How To Block A Website

If you have children and you’ve caught them how use certain site content such as porn and gambling. You don´t have to turn off the internet . Just block certain website and prevent your children. I will show you a few of methods how to do it
1. Block website in all web browsers
Browse C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc , find file hosts and open that file with notepad
In notepad file find 127.0.0.1 localhost and below add something like 127.0.0.1 blockedsitename.com and 127.0.0.1 http://www.blockedsitename.com . My blocked sites looks like this
Then select File and click Save or press Ctrl+S

After this will be blocked certain website in all web browsers.
2.Block a website using internet explorer
Open Internet Explorer and click Tools , then click Internet Options

When Internet options window appear select Privacy tab

Click on Sites, in Address of website field type website addresses that would you like to block and click Block
Click OK and restart internet explorer. After this will be blocked certain website only in Internet Explorer
3. KidZui – Web Browser for children
This browser have lot of funny effects and the browser is designed exactly for children.
KidZui can display only those pages that the community is approved.






thank for your suggestion how to block a certain website. consequently, this will prevent children from getting in a not allowed websites.
I am glad I know this now, at my house I am in charge of fixing the family computer… I can use this to block websites that I know are known to have viruses. Thanks :P
Hi. The solution you gave is quite ok. But if you want to block more than websites is no more valid. I use Application Blocker (http://www.applicationblocker.com) and i can block not only websites, but also applications – mostly games :), chat rooms and multimedia.

Hi, Blocking websites by editing the host file is fine, but if the site has previousl been visited then you need to delete browsing history etc. otherwise the host file will be ignored. Alec
Useful tips, but a third party web filter will be much more easier I think.
none of these things are working for me. trying to ban porn sites and i did everything u said, but when i type them in, the site still works. so frustrating…

This is a good way to block sites but I use http://www.goldlimiter.com because it block sites in time periods. I allow only one hour usage of facebook to my kids and this is possible to do with this application.
