It probably happened once, that someone deleted a folder ,which is containing a few hundred files and was very important. If you’d like to avoid anything similar happening in future. You can protect your important folders by making them undeletable. Here is simple tip, which can help you.
1)Open cmd ( Type in Run option cmd or navigate to All Programs->Accessories-> Command Prompt)
2)In cmd change to the directory that you want,I change to E.Just type E: and enter. If you don´t know how change directories with Cmd, here is post where I wrote about it
3)Type md \lpt1\\ and press enter, the folder will now in your E:

4)If you try to delete or rename it, it will appear error message

Hi…….Thanx for the tip and what is the use of the lpt1 option…Will u explain plssssssssssssssssssss
it can’t work. but it can delete it from cmd
Ok, so the creation of the folder is easy. But when I enter the eraseure command, “rd \lpt1\\” (minus the quotes, obviously) it tells me the directory is not empty. When I hover over the folder in the windows window, it says there are 6.00kb worth of something there, but there are no files in the folder, hidden or otherwise. They were removed. So, wtf? I can’t delete it, and I need to erase my tracks. I can’t move the directory, either, for some reason unknown to me. WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Thanks, thats really good
good good :)
it is not working
i check it. it is best for saving our personal docement
and thanks for giving tip.
wow, cool thank you but i have a queation if i format my computer . the folder still ?????!
hey i did the same in windows xp . but thr folder could be deleted easily :-S
CAn anyone please tell me the correct method to make undeletable folder..
This makes sense only with the lpt1 folder name. No other folder name works. You have to keep the folder name same. It does work on ntfs Partiton. It’s of no use because u cant copy or change anything in the folder. Still.. hack appreciated brother.
hi thnx 4 the information but do we can change the name of the undeletable folder
i mean by the cmd
awsome tip buddy…its working ….Thanks!!!!!
There is one that i think is best but too bad, work on win98 and ME only… just go to command prompt then rename your folder like for example I made a folder named Joy:
C:/ren joy joy(then press Alt+255) and enter..
there in can’t be open and can’t be deleted… you can try any numbers but make sure to remember it otherwise sorry and goodbye…
to open the folder just rename again
C:/ren joy(then press Alt+255) joy
there it is open again
It reailly work
& so funny trik
http://www.tooLongPath.com saved me lot of time for solving this problem
Works great, can’t remove or rename! Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit. Thanks.
So is there any way to create undeletable folder with custom name?
